Welcome! My name is Christina Cooper and I am an Edmonton based photographer and graphic designer.  In 2009 I graduated from Grant MacEwan College with a diploma in visual communications, and years later (2016) graduated from ACAD with a Bachelor of Design majoring in photography. 

Although I am a professionally trained photographer, in recent years I have been freelancing as a graphic design with heavy focus on creating show and tour posters for a number of Edmonton venues. It has quickly become a new passion and I find such joy in designing unique posters that speak to different genres and audiences. In 2021 I was incredibly honored to have been nominated for the Western Canadian Music Awards for Excellence in Visual Design.

As for my photography, my process often beginnings with a camera in hand and a walk through the city, hiking trail or supermarket. For my work, I find composition to be a very important and spend a lot of time behind the lens before actually pressing the shutter. Primarily focusing on Architecture, Nature and Still life my images are minimal and quiet with a strong emphasis on shape, form and texture. With my architectural and nature images I strive for abstraction by focusing on details, unique negative space and playing with proportion and scale. My still life images, although still minimal, have a larger emphasis on texture and form. With my images, I intend to bring attention to the little details that make up the big picture in our daily lives. My goal is to engage viewers to start (or continue) to view our world with open eyes and find beauty in the most uncommon, mundane places.

My inspiration and influences include; my father, an architect, my photography heroes, Harry Callahan & Edward Weston and abstract/modernist painters, Jackson Pollock and Georgia O’Keeffe.
